Ayako Uehara

The Chopin Society of Hong Kong has put together a series of recitals by the winners of piano competitions and distinguished teachers. Professor Pola Baytelman

Launching the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) artist-in-residence programme, Professor Pola Baytelman gives a piano recital tonight of the works of Prokofiev, Debussy and Isaac Albeniz. The Chilean pianist is an authority on the music of Albeniz, having released a CD and published a book on the Spanish pianist and composer. Tonight, 7pm-8.30pm. Irene Ryder In Concert

The 1970s singing sensation returns to the stage this week after a long break from live performing. Twenty-five years ago, when she was 27, someone threw acid over Ryder as she stood outside her home in Hillwood Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The Gate

Composer Tan Dun's multimedia opera follows the confessions of three women: Yu Ji from Lillian Lee's Farewell My Concubine, Juliet from Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet and Koharu from Chikamatsu's The Love Suicides At Amijima. At the gate through which all souls must pass to be reborn, the three women who committed suicide for love await their judgments. Tan conducts and plays one of the judges. Nov 15-16, 8pm. Uncle Dave's Big Day Out

The Sunshine Theatre Company, directed by Jamie Wilson, makes its debut at Uncle Dave's Big Day Out - the popular afternoon performances for children aged from two to nine (and their parents). The Tempest

British AandBC Theatre brings this adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest to the stage. The performance has toured to critical acclaim throughout Europe since it was first staged in London in 1999. The Solitaire Mystery

Silje Nergaard
