A group of Form One students from a Homantin school had an enjoyable experience working as volunteers recently.
The project aimed to enhance the students' spirit of serving the community and help them develop a sense of responsibility.
The students from Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College spent a day doing voluntary service at elderly homes. They kept the elderly entertained with singing, games and a magic show. They also took the time to chat with them.
Not only were the elderly touched, those who co-ordinated the visit were equally impressed.
Third former Andy Yeung Wing-lei's job as a peer counsellor involved looking after the volunteers and co-ordinating the visit.
'The Form One students were very enthusiastic,' said Wing-lei. 'One elderly woman suddenly burst into tears when talking about her relatives, and all the first formers went to her and comforted her.'
