Born in Hong Kong, but still denied a passport

Article 23 is a typical example of how the government views its people, and especially its minorities, with utter disregard for their rights.

Permanent residents who are not Hong Kong citizens, that is, do not have three stars on their identity cards or do not have an SAR passport, fall under the jurisdiction of Article 23. That is understandable. However, what is ironic is that these people cannot apply for the SAR passport, even if they want to, unless they are of Chinese origin.

So, people who have been born and brought up in Hong Kong are denied their right to be citizens just because they have no Chinese blood in their lineage, and yet have to stick by the rules which apply to the rest of the citizens of the SAR.

This is ridiculous, unfair, and a disgrace for a modern, so-called 'free' society. I wonder what the Equal Opportunities Commission is doing in this regard.

Perhaps, in typical Hong Kong style, denying all knowledge and responsibility and do nothing?
