A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr Au has more than 10 years of experience in marketing management in the United States and a strong knowledge of computer technology, advanced networking application and total system solution for some Fortune 500 firms in the US. STANDARD Chartered Asia Pacific Merchant Bank Group has announced Peter Schneider has been appointed to the board of Standard Chartered Asia Ltd. He will be responsible for developing and promoting cost-efficient financing structures in Hong Kong as well as other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. ONE of America's largest owners and managers of real estate, Winthrop, has appointed Jack VanWoerkom as head of its Asian operations, Winthrop Asia. As managing director of Winthrop Asia, Mr VanWoerkom will have responsibility for the marketing of direct equity investments in United States and Asian property, property advisory services and property management services. He is responsible for management of the company, focusing on structuring property acquisitions and financing, asset and property management and legal matters. AMERICAN International Underwriters Ltd (AIU), a member company of American International Group (AIG), has announced the appointments of Dennis Lui as assistant vice-president - marine department - and Marianna Chik as assistant vice-president - AIG Banking Insurance Services Ltd. Mr Lui has had extensive experience in marine underwriting, claims and brokerage. Ms Chik has worked for AIU since 1987 and will be responsible for the mass marketing activities of AIG Banking Insurance Services. She graduated from York University in Canada. CONSULTANTS in Environmental Sciences (Asia) Ltd has announced the appointment of Guy Bradley as director. Mr Bradley was an associate with the company and has worked in the environmental field internationally for 16 years, including four years in Hong Kong. Steve Howard has joined the company as an associate. Mr Howard has managed multi-disciplinary environmental studies in Britain, the United States and Thailand. DELBERT Williamson has been appointed president and regional executive GE Industrial and Power Systems Asia in Hong Kong. Mr Williamson was vice-president, Industrial and Power Systems sales. Michael Pralle has been appointed president of GE Capital, East Asia, with headquarters in Hong Kong. He will be responsible for the activities of GE Capital in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. Mr Pralle was previously vice-president and general manager of GE Capital's distribution financial services business in the United States. KPMG Peat Marwick Hong Kong has appointed Sheila Pattle as partner and Francis Siu as principal. Ms Pattle joined KPMG in 1987. She has experience in a broad range of business sectors including the service and hospitality industries and retailing. Mr Siu joined KPMG Manchester in 1979 and returned to Hong Kong in 1986. He has been involved in the audit of a variety of clients, particularly in the property and manufacturing sectors, and has been closely involved with new listings, including mainland enterprises. The company has also announced the appointment of Amy Lau, Davie Yau, David Nash and David Collins as associates. Ms Lau joined KPMG in 1977 and has experience in the banking and insurance sector. She is involved in the listing of mainland enterprises on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Mr Yau joined KPMG in 1978 and is assisting many clients with joint ventures on the mainland. Mr Nash joined KPMG in 1989 and has worked primarily on special assignments. He will join KPMG's transportation group, which is responsible for the audit of a number of listed transportation companies. Mr Collins joined the Hong Kong office in 1985 and has extensive experience in banking, insurance and securities clients. PATRICIA Bjaaland Welch has been appointed marketing director of Fortune (Asia). Ms Welch is rejoining Time Inc Magazines in Asia after spending two years in the United States and Bangkok. She was advertising marketing director of Asiaweek Ltd between 1987 and 1990. In the US, she worked as a strategic marketing promotion director in Boston. Ms Welch was chief executive of the University of Oslo's international management training centre before coming to Hong Kong. She also is the author of three books and a former business editor and communications specialist with McKinsey & Co (Scandinavia). PETER Moe has been appointed regional director of Inchcape Shipping Services Asia-Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Inchcape Shipping Services, Mr Moe held a number of positions at Sealand Inc including vice-president and general manager - Southeast Asia, based in Singapore.
