Legal limitations on possession of premises after lease expires:
Hong Kong: Tenants can continue to stay in the property after the lease expires if they pay the market rent. A landlord can oppose them only if he wants to live in the flat himself, wants to redevelop the flat, or if the tenant has been in breach of the tenancy agreement.
Australia: After lease expires, landlord can give 14 days' eviction notice without providing a reason.
New Zealand: Landlord can seek possession of their property at the end of the fixed tenancy without giving a reason.
Britain: If a tenant does not renew the lease, it is presumed to have expired at the end of the agreement and the landlord can seek possession.
Singapore: Landlord can seek possession after lease expires without giving a reason.
