Teen rowing sensations Law Hiu-fung and Yung Ka-yan may be on their way to Athens and the 2004 Olympics. The qualification process, announced by the International Rowing Federation last week, gives Hong Kong's young Asian Games medal winners a great chance of seeing their dreams come true. Slots at the 2004 Games will be up for grabs at continental qualification regattas in May 2004. The Asian qualifiers will offer six places for men and five for women in the singles sculls event, while three male pairs and three female pairs will qualify in the lightweight double sculls. The SAR aces Law and Yung had a hugely successful Asian Games in South Korea where they captured one silver and two bronze medals between them. With both ranked highly in their respective events in Asia, they have a strong chance of going to Athens. Their coach Chris Perry is confident that the progress the pair have made this season can continue. 'We have a good chance, a good track record in both singles and doubles, and we are getting faster every year,' said Perry, head rowing coach at the Sports Development Board.
