The next time you hear a phone ringing in the street, pick it up. That's what the folks at Coca-Cola want you to do, as part of their campaign to promote Vanilla Coke.

The campaign features a billboard-cum-TV screen with actor Anthony Wong Chau-sang selling the drink. At the end of his spiel, a toy phone installed below the screen sounds. Those who pick up the receiver will hear a pre-recorded message congratulating them and telling them that their reward is a drink coupon, which then pops out of a slot.

An intrigued SAR observed that most adults were ignoring the gimmick in Mongkok yesterday, although we spotted one woman picking up the phone to make a call. It was also quickly accepted by a bill poster who wasted no time in sticking an advertising flyer for another product to the phone. Not surprisingly, children were curious enough to pick up the receiver.

What happens if the phone remains unanswered? Wong's annoyed visage appears on the screen and he says: 'How do you know it's not for you? You have no sense of curiosity.'
