Designer Barney Cheng and a cast of hundreds will take over the HSBC headquarters in Central on Friday, January 17, to stage a fashion extravaganza showcasing his 2003 collection. The event - which he describes as 'daring' and 'fresh' - is his second show in the building. Cheng (left) displayed his creations on the 28th floor last year. More than 500 guests will watch models descend on escalators from the banking hall, and sashay onto a flood-lit catwalk on the ground-floor plaza. There will be a buffet in the hall before the show starts at 9pm. 'The staff finish their work at 4.30pm so we will have only three hours to set up everything,' said the event's spokeswoman Wendy Wilcox. 'It's a bit ambitious, but we will make it.' Will staff returning to work get leftovers? 'Definitely not,' Wilcox said. 'They won't have a clue what has happened because we will clean up everything.'
