During his stay in Hong Kong, Premier Zhu Rongji said that the success of Hong Kong should not be attributed to the colonial governments and that Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa must not be blamed for the present economic woes.
I disagree and think Mr Tung is also responsible, because he failed to choose the most suitable people to rule Hong Kong.
Mr Zhu said if all our reserves were eventually used up, the SAR government could issue bonds or debentures. Why did he wait so long to come up with a remedy for Mr Tung to adopt? After all, Mr Tung has been in office for more than five years and Hong Kong people have suffered enough.
More mainland enterprises should set up companies here and recruit more professionals from the SAR and skilled workers and employ them on the mainland.
