Former chief secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang, recently named an honorary dame by Britain's Queen Elizabeth, will this week become an ice-cream dame, as she continues with her colourful life in retirement. The 62-year-old 'conscience of Hong Kong' will play shopkeeper with Canto-pop singer Daniel Chan Hiu-tong, and scoop ice cream for customers at a Ben & Jerry's kiosk opening at Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong at 2pm on Saturday. With proceeds going to UN children's agency Unicef, Chan will be expected to concentrate on serving customers rather than tasting the product. But neither Chan will miss out on the chance to indulge. Each will be rewarded with a box of chocolate ice cream at the end of their 'shift'. 'The ice cream will be kept with dry ice so it won't melt in their hands,' a Ben & Jerry's spokeswoman said.
