I write to support the letter from Margaret Gruenberg on the impending closure of the Welfare Handicrafts shop on Salisbury Road.
For me, also, it is an annual source of pleasure to make purchases from this shop, not only because of the quality of the goods, but also because it is good to know that those in need benefit.
I cannot believe the government will be so cold-hearted as not to find a suitable site for the shop, or make arrangements for it to remain where it is, so that those less fortunate members of society can continue to receive help.
For the volunteers who run the shop, this would be a welcome recognition of their work.
