After almost a week of wet weather, the blue skies on October 24 and 25 gave a huge lift to the spectators and participants at Sheung Shui Government Secondary School's eleventh annual Sports Day held at the North District Sports Ground in Sheung Shui. Competition was intense and the vocal and colourful support from Zhong, Jian, Ai and Qin houses added to the atmosphere of the occasion. Four School track records fell on the first day. Woo Kwong-kit broke the 400m and the 100m C-Boy's records. Lo Ka-lok broke the 200m A-Boy's record. Kwok Ni broke the shot-put B-Girl's record. On Friday, Ho Ka-po broke the 800m B-Girl's record. The A-Boy's shot-put record was bettered by Chan Po-shing. The 200m C-Boy's record was broken by Wai Ka-hei, and Woo Kwong-kit beat the old record in the 100m C-Boy's race. The guest of honour, MTR's marketing and business development manager Jeny Yeung Mei-chun praised the enthusiasm of all contestants, helpers and spectators who contributed to the success of the event. She said the increased number of participants in the 1,500m and 3,000m events was an indication of the students' house loyalty. The principal, Leung Man-wai, encouraged the students to try their best just as Lee Lai-shan had demonstrated in the recent Asian Games. He congratulated Jian House for being the overall champions from the start of the event.
