A single mother was seriously injured yesterday when she was knocked down by a taxi in Kwai Fong while taking a lunchbox to school for her eight-year-old son.

The school offers lunchboxes for $14.50 but Liu Weichan, 38, made lunch for Tse Wai-luen every day because she was on a tight budget.
Ms Liu was on her way to the Lee 1 Yao Memorial School near Kwai Fong Estate when she was hit by the taxi.
The two-way permit holder, whose husband died six years ago, is on welfare.
Witnesses said she was thrown 10 metres but still asked a neighbour to make sure Wai-luen had his lunch.

Ms Liu was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, where her condition last night was described as serious.
