I REFER to Sze Shun-yin's letter which appeared in the South China Morning Post, on July 30 regarding the negative influence of television on young people. Most children and teenagers like to watch television and many of them spend at least three hours a day in front of the screen. Television exerts a strong influence on them. TV stations are putting on more drama series where the theme is gambling, fighting or love, in order to attract more viewers. However, television producers should consider the effect their programmes have on young people. Today's children will be tomorrow's parents. We should try to help them grow into responsible adults.
