Food-lovers can do their bit for charity this Christmas by buying a new cookbook celebrating the breadth of Hong Kong cuisine.
A contribution of $10 will be made to Operation Santa Claus for every copy of Cooking up a Dragon that is sold. The richly illustrated book, including work by renowned photographer Andrew Chester Ong, contains recipes ranging from meals served at dai pai dongs to luxury hotel fare.
David Tait, chief executive officer of the book's publisher, PPP Company Limited, said he hoped to raise $100,000 for this year's charity drive.
'This is the first time we have joined in Operation Santa Claus. We think it's a good idea to participate,' Mr Tait said.
This year's beneficiary is the Pathways Foundation, a charity set up in March last year to help children with specific learning disabilities. So far, the publisher has raised $25,000. A cheque presentation was held on Tuesday.
Cooking up a Dragon can be bought for $288 at bookstores, or by calling Kelly Wong on 2973 6057.
