Max and Liz (Jason Behr and Shiri Appleby, above) are arrested for armed robbery in the third-season opener of this sci-fi drama. The pair are caught when they hold up a convenience store in order to gain access to the storage facility beneath it, where they believe the ship that brought Max to Earth is hidden. In the subsequent hearing, Max's father (Garrett M Brown) handles their defence, but Liz's parents lose confidence after a discussion with the prosecutor.
Ally McBeal

Fish (Greg Germann) assigns Ally (Calista Flockhart) a case involving a public-relations firm being sued by a former employee who claims she lost her job for being overweight. The company fully acknowledges this and Ally refuses to take the case. Later, Fish announces to his colleagues that he has bought five entries to a charity twisting contest hosted by singer Chubby Checker. Nelle (Portia de Rossi) insists she cannot twist and Ally refuses to attend. But when Ling (Lucy Liu) announces she is a champion twister, Ally changes her mind.
