NEW TAXI TRAINING COURSE PROPOSED

People who want to qualify as taxi drivers may have to take a four-day course from the end of next year under a new Transport Department proposal. The course would include English and Putonghua training and tests on road safety and laws. It may also include a road test and a test of street knowledge, but details are being finalised. Existing taxi drivers need not take the course.
