THIS year's Hong Kong Youth Music Camp Finale Concert at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall auditorium ended with cries of encore from the audience and praises by the guest musicians from abroad.

The annual Finale Concert commenced with the grand 60-member Camp Chorus with Mr Michael Ryan, lecturer in the Department of Music and Fine Arts at the Baptist College, as conductor.

This was followed by a violin solo played by Mr Michael Ma, Vienna-born concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, who captured everyone's attention when he played the well-known meditation from ''Thais''.

''The standard of the youth here is very high, I had a very enjoyable time teaching them,''exclaimed Mr Gerald Doan, Professor of Music Education at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, who conducted the Senior String Orchestra atthe finale.

The highlight of the concert was the Chinese Orchestra's rendition of ''King Qin Smashing the Battle-Line''.

Mr Ho Man-chuen, a conductor with the Music Office, helped the orchestra to bring this exciting piece to life.
