RICOH, the Japanese office equipment maker, will form a joint venture in Shanghai, with Chinese and Hong Kong firms, to produce facsimile machines, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported.

The venture, to be 49.5 per cent-owned by Ricoh, would construct a plant by October 1994, and produce 40,000 machines a month by 1996, it said.
