The Philippines Baseball Team won their first championship title of 2003 by drubbing the Tianjin Institute of Physical Education in the final of the third Zhujiang Cup - Hong Kong International Invitational Baseball Tournament. The Philippines, who remained undefeated in the first round, won 8-0 over Tianjin in the final at Yuen Long Stadium on Wednesday. In their first encounter in the round-robin first round, the Philippines beat Tianjin by a score of 7-0. Umpire-in-chief of the tournament, Leung Chi-kit, said the Philippines were adept in the field and batting. 'The Philippines sent several national team players to the tournament and most of the others are highly experienced,' Mr Leung said. 'They are definitely the strongest team in the tournament.' He said Tianjin made two big mistakes in the game which triggered a five-point deficit in a round. Other participating teams of the tournament were Shenzhen, Hong Kong and the Taipei Brett Baseball Team.
