Cathay Pacific has expressed regret over an incident in which a Hong Kong-bound flight was forced to return to London after a security scare.
Flight CX254 was three hours into its journey to Hong Kong on Monday evening when flight crew discovered that three people had failed to board the plane at Heathrow, even though their baggage was stowed in the hold.
One of the 309 delayed passengers, who arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, said the pilot had made an announcement asking the missing passengers to identify themselves.
'The announcement was quite stressful. But there was no response. The pilot said that for security reasons, we had to return to London,' the passenger said.
A Cathay spokeswoman said that as a token of goodwill, passengers were given gift vouchers worth up to $2,000.
