PetroChina, the mainland's largest and most profitable oil company, produced 1 per cent more crude oil and 9.8 per cent more natural gas last year than 2001.
President Chen Geng said in the company-sponsored China Petroleum News that PetroChina last year pumped 104.4 million tonnes of oil - equivalent to 771.41 million barrels of oil (boe).
This was 1 per cent higher than the 763.5 million barrels produced in 2001. About 103.6 million barrels of last year's production were from domestic oil fields, up 0.24 year on year.
Offshore oil interest attributable to the company was 0.78 million barrels.
About 50.13 million tonnes (370.41 million boe) came from China's Daqing oilfield, according to an earlier Xinhua News Agency report.
PetroChina produced 22.45 billion cubic metres of natural gas, up 9.78 per cent from 2001. Analysts said the oil and gas production figures were in line with their forecasts.
