In the light of utterances I often hear by Hong Kong people about how declasse 'mainlanders' are and after reading all the reports about how the city was trashed after Christmas and New Year's Eve, I must say I am much happier being in Guangzhou surrounded by people who do not have an inflated image of self-worth and go about their daily business of life with pragmatism.

Now if only we can stem the tide of incoming Hong Kong people from polluting our fair city.
