While most of you are planning how to spend your Lunar New Year holiday, you should also take some time to think about the less fortunate.
Katherine Leung Heung-wah, a 26-year-old City University graduate, found out that she had acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) - generally known as blood cancer - last May.
She has had four chemotherapy treatments since then, but none of them worked. She is now in a critical condition.
'The only thing that can save her is a bone marrow transplant, and we hope the blood tests will help us find the right donor for her,' said City University's Department of Commerce lecturer Henry Fock Kwong-yin, who organised the drive.
Mr Fock, who was Ms Leung's teacher, said Ms Leung hoped the blood tests would not only help her.
'She hopes that even if she can't find the right donor for her, there will be blood samples that match the needs of the 200 patients waiting for a bone marrow transplant,' he said.
