Chan Kwok-wing, 18, reversed his plea of not guilty to robbery after Deputy Judge Duggan admitted his cautioned statement as evidence during the District Court trial.

Prosecuting counsel John Marray said Manjit Singh was robbed of jewellery worth $5,000 outside a flat in Lai Tak Tsuen, North Point, on August 2 last year.

He was lured to the building, where his friend lived. They entered together, but Mr Singh failed to catch up with his friend. On reaching the fifth floor, Mr Singh saw Chan.

He took Mr Singh up to the seventh floor, where he was robbed by a masked man, later identified as Ho Lung-wai, 16.

R. P Sabaratnam, for Chan, said his client had been an unwanted child and had returned to his family after living away from home for nine years.
