An open-air music extravaganza originally to be held at the old Kai Tak Airport has to move indoors with less than a week's notice.
The Hong Kong Police Force demanded a change of venue because 'there were not enough fire exits' at the old airport.
Wild Day Out, an eight-hour concert scheduled for tomorrow featuring top Asian musicians, such as Wu Bai from Taiwan and South Korean pop queen Park Ji-yoon, will be moved to the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.
Flora Kwong Man-wai, general manager with the event's organiser, Rock Hong Kong Company, said they were notified by the police about safety problems at Kai Tak on January 2, long after they had obtained the licence for the event.
'But the police did not confirm with us until early this week that we would not be allowed to hold the concert there,' she said.
'They should have told us earlier.'
