They might not be bringing their most famous strikers, but Uruguay will still have plenty of proven scorers to test the Hong Kong League XI's defence in next weekend's Carlsberg Cup clash at Hong Kong Stadium. The South Americans announced a 21-strong squad made up of players from their domestic league for the Lunar New Year tournament, with Manchester United's Diego Forlan and Inter Milan's Alvaro Recoba missing as expected. But the team still boast the top two scorers in the Uruguayan league in German Hornos of Felix and Gonzalo Vargos of Defensor Sporting. Manager Osvaldo Gimanez said he was happy with his squad: 'Even though we will be missing some of our foreign-based players, we have a strong and useful side with many up-and-coming future stars.' Tournament consultant Derek Currie predicted the Uruguayans would produce some entertaining football. 'They have a lot of fantastic players, including Hornos, who finished last season with 28 goals. And from what I know, their midfielder Julio Rodrigues can curve the ball from free-kicks as good as David Beckham,' said Currie.
