The company behind Camp Snoopy in America wants one of its Peanuts playgrounds to be built in Universal Studios' planned theme park in Shanghai.
New York-based United Feature Syndicate, which publishes 150 features including Peanuts/Snoopy worldwide, plans to open seven Snoopy playgrounds in Asia: five on the mainland, one in Taiwan and one in South Korea.
Raymond Mok Yuan-tsa, chairman of RM Enterprises, the Asia-Pacific agent of United Feature Syndicate, said the group had established a good working relationship with Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, which housed a Snoopy Studio in its theme park.
'It is likely this co-operation will be repeated at the Universal Studios' theme park in Shanghai,' he said.
But the final decision would be subject to Universal's yet-to-be finalised plans for the Shanghai theme park, he said.
Shanghai had already been identified by the group as one of the five locations suitable for a Snoopy playground. Other possible locations included Beijing, Nanjing and Sichuan.
'Negotiations with different parties were under way in different cities,' Mr Mok said.
