Madame Butterfly

The famous opera about an American lieutenant and a Japanese woman is being transformed into a Cantonese opera. Scriptwriter Yip Siu-tak has kept the original storyline and the cast wear Japanese and Western costumes - but the music arrangement and singing methods are in a traditional Cantonese opera style. The show's stars include Sun Kim-long, Liza Wang (left, with Sun), Chan Wing-yee, Yau Sing-po, Yam Bing-yee, Choi Kei-lun and Liu Kwok-sum. Feb 11-13, 7.30pm. Kwai Tsing Theatre. $100-$300 Urbtix.
