In this romantic drama directed by Jingle Ma, Taiwanese pop star Richie Ren plays the blind and mute Onion, who falls in love with his nurse, Autumn (Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi, above). Onion is killed in an accident but is allowed to return to Earth for five days, during which time he is able to see and speak but is unrecognisable to those who knew him and forbidden to reveal his identity. Returning to witness his own funeral, Onion finds Autumn in mourning and tries to recreate the love that they had never managed to express. (1999)

Loosely based on Jane Austen's Emma, this romantic comedy is set in an American high school. Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) and her friend Dionne (Stacey Dash), two of the most popular students in school, play matchmakers for two teachers. Inspired by their success, Cher takes under her wing Tai (Brittany Murphy), a 'clueless' new student. While she tries to make an advantageous match for Tai, Cher ends up accidentally finding a boyfriend of her own. Also starring Paul Rudd. (1995)
