Scary tales haunt pupils

Is there something unusual about your school toilets? It appears Moaning Mytle of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where Harry Potter and his gang study, is not the only ghostly creature that resides in these often dimly lit places.

Young Post has conducted some interviews and found some fundamental elements in haunted toilet stories.

First of all, most haunted toilets are female ones, which may very well explain why girls like to go to the toilet in groups.

Other than toilets that flush on their own, mirrors - which many students spend their recess time in front of - are another quintessential element in any haunted toilet story. Strange stories are usually linked with mirrors in the farthest corners, and reflections of long-haired girls in mirrors, according to the students we spoke to.

These girls' hair usually covers their whole face so storytellers do not have to describe how they look in detail. If there is a face, it will have bleeding eyes and a bleeding nose and mouth.

Of all the stories we heard, the most impressive one is from a former student of a girls' school in Wong Tai Sin.
