DISCOUNT ON FARES FOR EAST RAIL COMMUTERS

Commuters will receive a 20 per cent discount on their fare for a second East Rail ride on the same day from April 1. They will also receive a 10 per cent discount for three or more rides on the same day, operator KCRC said. The Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation expects to lose $32 million with the new scheme, which will run for five months to replace the existing 'Ride 8, Get 1 Free' scheme. The scheme will benefit Octopus Card users but does not apply to train services to the Sha Tin Racecourse and Lowu.
