Be charitable, barrister told

THE Chief Justice Sir Ti Liang Yang in admitting a barrister to the private bar encouraged him to continue his charity work.

Peter Lavac, a Senior Crown Counsel in the Legal Department, will join the bar at the end of the year after seven years in the Attorney-General's chambers.

In July 1990, he led a team of surf-ski champions on a marathon paddle from Hong Kong to the Philippines. They set a world record and raised $50,000 for Hong Kong orphans.
