Sprinter Wong Cheuk-bun could be his school's hero in today's Hong Kong and Kowloon division three (area one) athletics finals.
Cheuk-bun, a student at YCH Wong Wha San Secondary School (WWS), is a strong favourite to win the boys' grade B 100 metres and 100m hurdles today. Cheuk-bun may also anchor the 4x100m relay team in a potentially championship-deciding event at the end of the day.
WWS can pick up more points in the grade C 100m hurdles final - the school's Lam Teng-wai ran the race in a fast 15.36 seconds in last week's heats.
There's a three-way battle to become the fastest boy in area one, with Wong Ka-chun, Chan Wai-ho and Hau Kin-man heading the list in the grade A 100m.
In last week's heats, Ka-chun of MKMCF Ma Chan Duen Hey Memorial College clocked 11.96 seconds; Wai-ho, a student from Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School, was timed at 11.60; and Delia Memorial School - Yuet Wah (DMS-YW) student Kin-man did it in 11.80.
In the girls' category, Lo Po-man should win the grade A 800m for Tak Oi Secondary School and the championship could be decided in a dramatic finale - the grade A 4x400m relay.
