TWO friends were killed as a light goods vehicle crashed into a crowd watching illegal motor racing in Tsim Sha Tsui, a court heard yesterday.
Light goods vehicle driver Choi Ho-wan, 19, has denied charges of reckless driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident on February 21 this year.
The court heard that Cheung Ka-man, 18, and Wong Lau-tak, 28, died.
Choi has admitted a charge of using a vehicle with safety glass laminated with darkened film.
Defence counsel Albert Yau pointed out that it was not being alleged that Choi had been taking part in the illegal motor racing.
Cheung Kwai-cheung, 19, a friend of the two dead men who had been standing next to them as they watched the racing, told Crown Counsel Charles Chan he saw a light goods vehicle coming towards him. He and his friends stepped back.
