THE A-share markets in Shanghai and Shenzhen did a dramatic about-face yesterday, falling from the lofty heights achieved a day earlier. The Credit Lyonnais Securities (Asia) Shenzhen A index tumbled 293.35 points, 11.71 per cent, to 2,211.1 after putting on 7.29 per cent the day before. In Shanghai, the A-share index lost 292.98 points, 4.7 per cent, to 5,934.1 after gaining nine per cent the previous day. Share prices on the Shanghai B market closed mixed with the index putting on 3.86 points, 0.47 per cent, to 824.7. Trading was moderate. Jinqiao was the most actively traded issue, gaining 2.44 per cent to close at 42 US cents. In Shenzhen, the B market continued its rally with the index adding 24.16 points, 2.73 per cent, to close at 909.7. The most active share was Shekou Port, closing unchanged at HK$3.50 on turnover of $4.28 million. Tsann Kuen outperformed others to close at $3.50, up 20 per cent.
