There is still a chance for principals to nominate candidates for all categories of the South China Morning Post Student of the Year Awards 2002/03.
A new selection system for the Student of the Year Award has been implemented to encourage more students to take part.
Instead of a single panel selecting semi-finalists from across Hong Kong, candidates will be divided into four groups according to the location of their schools.
The four geographical divisions are Hong Kong Island and outlying islands, Kowloon, New Territories (East) and New Territories (West).
During the semi-final, scheduled for this month and next month, participants in each region will first compete in a debate session. They will be judged by adjudicators from the South China Morning Post, district offices of the Education and Manpower Bureau and a student organisation.
Candidates should be familiar with social issues and current affairs.
