His quest takes him to Peru's Rio Utcubamba, where he encounters many rare species including bears, beautiful orchids and, of course, hummingbirds.
The Pyramid Of Doom: An Ancient Murder Mystery
World, 10pm
Today, the Pyramid of the Moon (Huaca de la Luna) stands mute and impressive in the desert of northern Peru. But when the civilisation that built it was at its height, this colossal edifice was the site of grisly rites. Most excavations in Peru reveal ancient remains resting in decorous repose. But the find at the Pyramid of the Moon was shockingly different: some 70 skeletons grotesquely splayed across a mud plaza in the agonies of violent, sudden death. Why had these ancient tribespeople suffered such a horrible fate? Archaeologist Steve Bourget and his team investigated, and as they unravelled the scientific murder mystery, they uncovered the dark side of one of antiquity's most brilliant civilisations, the Moche.
