Nina Wang's bail extended as probe into husband's will continues
Asia's richest woman, Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum, has had her police bail extended by six months following her arrest in December on suspicion of forging her late husband's will, a government source said yesterday.
The bail conditions for Mrs Wang, who was released on $5 million bail, remain unchanged and she will have to report back to police in September pending further investigations.
The billionaire is believed to have arrived with her lawyers at the Commercial Crime Bureau's office in Wan Chai last week, well before yesterday's deadline.
Another source said Mrs Wang could arrive before the scheduled day if she had a reasonable excuse that had been agreed by her lawyer and police. 'She had to give police advance notice before she came to the police headquarters,' the source said.
Commercial Crime Bureau officers refused to comment on the case or explain the grounds for extending Mrs Wang's bail.
It is understood Mrs Wang went to the station early to avoid a repeat of the media frenzy that followed her arrest in December, when more than 100 photographers and cameramen jostled to catch her leaving police headquarters and arriving at her Tsim Sha Tsui office.
