Plants species abound in Island House
THE WWF Hong Kong Island House Conservation Studies Centre is situated near Kwong Fuk Housing Estate in Tai Po.
The building, completed in 1906, is recognised by the Government as a historic building and is protected under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance.
In 1986, WWF Hong Kong was awarded custodianship of the building and ground, which had been the official residence for the Secretary for the New Territories.
Due to the uniqueness and importance of the Island House building and ground, where over 200 local and introduced plant species can be found, WWF has developed Island House into a conservation studies centre.
Teachers are welcome to use the facilities and resources of the centre to create and develop educational material for use in schools.
WWF HK also organises educational visits to Island House for students and members of the public. All school visits and activities are carried out by a WWF Education Officer.
