BIG AMBITIONS RIDE ON A LITTLE WEIGHT LOSS

1-MIN READ1-MIN

A month ago we reported rumours that chubby TV star Lydia Fei Fei Shum's even bigger 15-year-old daughter was planning to launch her pop career. Could this mark the end of the city's boney-babe obsession, we wondered? Well, it seems we were right and wrong.

Recent reports suggest that Cheng Yan-yee (right, with mama) has indeed signed a secret five-year contract with Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), the same pop factory that manufactured The Twins and Nicholas Tse. But it appears they have no intention of marketing the 90kg teenager as an alternative to Canto pop's stick-insect singers.

We hear EEG has sent poor Cheng to a fat farm and she is under orders to shed at least 18kg.

Sadly, we can see the business sense in this. Slimming companies are paying millions to their pitch girls. And a svelte new Cheng - able to beat the genetic curse of being born to Hong Kong's number one professional fatmonger - would be free to name her own price.
