UNIVERSITY STAFF TO MARCH AGAINST PAY DE-LINKING

University staff are to march on March 30 against the government's plan to de-link their salaries from the civil service pay scale. The Federation of Higher Education Staff Association has initiated the protest, which is also supported by the Professional Teachers' Union.

THE POPULAR CHOICE

Medicine and business administration were the most popular subjects chosen by outstanding sixth-formers under the early admissions scheme. Medicine degrees at both University of Hong Kong and Chinese University received more than 170 applications out of the 400-odd total. About half of the 339 applications received by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology were for global business management.
