A SCHIZOPHRENIC who tried to rape a 73-year-old woman was caught when he went back to try again, the High Court heard yesterday.
Chung Yiu-fat, 35, unemployed, pleaded guilty before Mr Justice Bewley to a charge of attempted rape.
An earlier medical report indicated Chung needed in-patient treatment for his own health and for the protection of the public.
Chung pleaded with the judge to sentence him immediately, but sentencing was deferred until September 3 as the recommendation of two psychiatrists is required before the court can make a hospital order.
Senior Assistant Crown Prosecutor Barry Moorfoot said the woman was cooking near her Tuen Mun hillside home on February 13 when she saw Chung emerge from a graveyard and rush towards her.
He grasped hold of her neck, pushed her to the ground, pulled down her trousers and tried to have intercourse. She put up a struggle.
The woman later told her son and the police were informed.
