The body of a Chinese weapons inspector killed in a Baghdad car accident last week was returned to Beijing yesterday. Xinhua reported that more than 200 people were waiting at the airport to meet the plane bringing back Yu Jianxing's body. Mourners included Xiong Guangkai, PLA deputy chief of general staff and Wang Guangya, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs. When the plane landed, Yu Jiantao, the dead man's elder brother, disembarked with a portrait of him. Four soldiers carried the coffin, which was draped with the UN flag and the national flag. Yu's widow, Xu Xinyi, placed a wreath on the coffin as PLA officers removed their hats to salute their fallen comrade. Yu, a professor at the PLA Anti-chemical Command Engineering College, died in a car accident in Iraq on March 13 on the way to Baghdad after completing an inspection.
