Sony continues to push the performance envelope of digital camcorders with the first two megapixel Mini DV Handycams.
The DCR-TRV60, DCR-TRV75 and DCR-TRV80 enable video quality of 530 lines of horizontal resolution with their 2-megapixel Advanced HAD CCD sensors and multi-layer coated lens from lens-maker Carl Zeiss.
The models combine enhanced CCD with the new Progressive Recording Mode to enlarge the shooting area of images up to 30 per cent.
While other digital camcorders offer only low-quality still-image capture, the 2-megapixel CCD on the new Handycams mean they can capture images with a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels for 4R-size photo-quality prints.
The new Handycam is capable of taking four images in short succession at the highest quality and 32 images consecutively at the lower resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
The TRV75 supports NTSC-compatible televisions, while the TRV80 supports PAL and the TRV60 PAL and NTSC.
The DCR-TRV80 has a built-in network interface and software to connect to the Internet via broadband or wireless Bluetooth networks.
