Taxi drivers have been told to wear masks and clean their cabs at least twice a day during the atypical pneumonia outbreak.
Commissioner for Transport Robert Footman said: 'People from all walks of life must play their part to fight against atypical pneumonia. Our friends in the taxi trade have showed their determination and commitment to the community-wide effort.'
About 40 representatives from taxi associations and more than 100 drivers attended a territory-wide taxi-cleaning campaign launched at a West Kowloon refilling station yesterday.
The taxi drivers were also advised to open windows to ensure proper ventilation and be considerate to passengers who may have symptoms of the disease.
Face masks and special guidelines were also distributed to drivers at the campaign launch.
