WHILE New York casino and property tycoon Donald Trump was out and about yesterday scouring the Hong Kong skyline to see where a possible Trump Tower might be located, his pregnant girlfriend, Marla Maples, joined Keeping Posted for afternoon tea in the Peninsula lobby.
And, over the scones and strawberry jam, Marla let slip a hitherto closely guarded secret about the baby she is carrying.
''It's a girl,'' she gushed, ''and Donald has already chosen the name Tiffany for her. But I have yet to give my consent. I really would prefer something more earthy.'' Former actress Marla, who met Trump six years ago, appears to be taking her seven-month pregnancy in her stride.
''I've never been happier, healthier or eaten as much as I am doing now,'' she said, reaching for a plate of tempting pastries and allowing herself to be swept away in a flood of calories.
Of her man, she told me: ''Donald is so soft and warm, but, as he confesses himself, a killer at business. But what most people don't get to see is his amazing wit. He keeps me laughing all the time.'' While here, boyfriend Donald, 47, is not the only one keeping an eye on business.
Yesterday Marla, 29, was up at 6 am to call New York and discuss a new line of maternity clothes she has designed and is to launch soon in the US.
