MORE office bearers of owners' corporations are likely to become involved in corruption as most are ignorant of the legal restraints on receiving remissions from contractors, the Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL) warned yesterday.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption received 138 complaints related to building management in the first half of this year, compared to 189 for all of last year.

ADPL spokesman Daniel Wong Kwok-tung said it had become customary for maintenance contractors to remit part of the cost to the corporation, and many members did not know it was illegal.
