Organisers of the Hong Kong Film Awards and the International Film Festival yesterday said they had no plans to cancel their events, despite the Sars outbreak.

A spokeswoman for the film awards said the presentations will take place as scheduled at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre this Sunday. Actors Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Andy Lau Tak-wah and Tony Leung Kai-fai - all competing for Best Actor - are among the stars expected to attend the awards night.

A film festival spokesman said it will proceed as scheduled from April 8 to 23 and no refunds will be offered unless it is cancelled.
