READING Ross Milburn's letter (South China Morning Post, August 17) reminded me yet again of what a 19th century place Hong Kong is in so many ways.
He says ''If women are paid less it is because they are perceived as being less valuable employees . . . ''.
This gives employers free reign to indulge their prejudices against women.
When such sentiments are expressed against Chinese, Jews, blacks or any other section of society they arouse justifiable outrage.
Mr Milburn's letter has been written with the arrogance of someone who knows nothing about the subject.
If he had a genuine interest in income differentials in Hong Kong he would have armed himself with knowledge, not displayed such fearless ignorance.
